India beat Australa in World Cup Warm Up Match
The Indian team registered a spectacular victory over defending champions Australia in the warm up match played at Bangalore. This 38-run victory of India was mainly due to the mind blowing performance of the bowlers.
The players from the Indian side who were the attractions of this match were Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, Ravichandran Aswin and S. Sreesanth.
When Piyush Chawla was included in the team for World Cup many raised their eye-brows questioning the necessity of a third spin bowler. But, when he dismissed four of the Australian batsmen at Bangalore, the leg-spinner became the favorite of all. Chawla claimed the wickets of Michael Clarke, Cameron White, David Hussey and Callum Ferguson and thus became the Cricket World Player of the Week.
The Indian spin bowler of world reputation, Harbhajan Singh took three of the Australian wickets just for 15 runs. Especially, the powerful Australian Skipper Ricky Ponting who was comfortable with the top score of 57 runs became a victim of Harbhajan’s deadly bowling.
Ravichandran Aswin is the other spin bowler who claimed one Australian wicket. The Indian Skipper Dhoni always prefers Aswin as the second off-spinner. Aswin did batting also creditably well in this match. He took 25 runs and offered valuable support as partner to Yusuf Pathan and Ashish Nehra.
By way of showing his emotions against the Australian Captain Ricky Ponting, Sreesanth became a controversial payer in this match. When his appeal to out Ponting was turned down, Sreesanth made an “L” sign to show Ponting as a loser. Also he had an heated exchange with Ponting. However, the Australians made it very clear that they will not be lodging any complaint against Sreesanth. Sreesanth the right arm bowler has a track record of aggressive behavior while playing. But, according to his coach Sivakumar, without the aggressivenesss he will be of no use for the team.
