Sri Lanka Vs West Indies - ICC T20 World Cup

West Indies looked feeble, without Chris Gayle not just missing his  batting histrionics, but his captainship charisma, as all the bowlers were taken for ride, by Sri Lanka opening pair of Sanath Jayasuriya and Tilakaratne Dilshan. Sanath made up for his poor form, in his previous matches, by taking Fidel Edwards first over, for seventeen runs and  demoralising rest of the bowlers, with his aggressive stroke play.

Sanath Jayasuriya muscles hasn’t lost its glitter even after towering to his late thirties, where he picked boundaries at will and was incidentally the aggressor, where he faced majority of balls and his partner Dilshan at the other end was more contend to be a delightful spectator.

Sanath Jayasuriya departed, for a well made eighty one runs of forty seven balls and Dilshan took the mantle of scoring quickly, where he staged some audacious innovative shots, which took the already demoralised West Indies gasping, for breath.

Simmons was the only bowler, who was successful for west Indies , where he picked first four wickets of Sri Lanka, to give a glimmer of hope for their batsmen, to go for the target.

West Indies openers faced Jayasuriya and Malinga, for a change and they could not make a perfect start, as they lost Fletcher, their previous game’s hero, in the process of going, for some quick runs in power play.

Simmons sound to have perfectly filled the void left, by their injured captain Chris gayle, but he departed, when he succumbed to ‘spin king’ Muralitharan. Ajantha Mendis, who was their Sri Lanka star performer, for the previous game, asserted his mystery once again, as he accounted, for the West Indies best batsmen Shivnarine Chanderpaul cheaply, to seal the match, for their side ,along with price wicket of Xavier Marshall.

But Dwayne Bravo scripted a inspiring half century with a solid partnership with Sarwan but once he departed for a well made half – century, one ninety two proved too much, to chase  for west Indies batsmen,

Spin duo Muralitharan and Mendis along with opening duo Jayasuriya and Dilshan proved, to be the difference between both the teams and Sri Lanka which has emerged, as a leader in this group of death can forge ahead, with a much needed momentum, to place their sights, on coveted trophy.
