South Africa Vs West Indies

South Africa bowlers once again asserted their supremacy and defended comfortably the formidable total, of one eighty three runs, built by their batsmen. Wayne Parnell once again showed why likes of Makhya Nitni has been warming the bench, with an impressive stint with ball.

South Africa Vs West Indies

South Africa batted first in the placid oval pitch and openers Graeme Smith along with Jacques Kallis had a dream start, where South African captain was more belligerent, but lost his wicket to Benn.

Jacques Kallis, who has been in terrific form, thanks largely, to IPL combined well with Gibbs to knit another ominous partnership and showed little mercy to bowlers. Jacques Kallis also became the highest run – scorer, in this tournamenet bettering Tilakartane Dilshan, by one run, in the process, but go out to Simmons, just before making a well deserved half – century.

Gibbs was not perturbed, by loss of Jacques Kallis, as he took the mantle of scoring quick runs quite admirably and was in rollicking form, but just when he was appearing to run away with the match, he succumbed, in the process of going for big hits.

Rest of the batsmen, who followed did not fare as expected, which was quite understandable given lack of batting, which they had in middle, thanks largely, to comprehensive victories scripted, by their top order batsmen. For West Indies Jerome Taylor clawed their team back, to contention, with three quick wickets in the end, which helped them, to restrict the rampant South Africans, from reaching two hundred runs.

Set to chase one eighty three runs, West Indies lost Fletcher and Gayle cheaply, because of some astounding bowling performance, by Wayne Parnell, who gave a paltry two runs from his opening spell of two over along with two wickets, which almost took the match away from West Indies.

But Simmons was in form of his life, as he tackled the South African bowlers in middle overs quite admirably, to give West Indies batsmen some hope, of chasing down the huge target and he also managed seventy seven valuable runs, in mere fifty deleveries.

Roelof De Merwe showed once again that he is a valuable asset to his team, as he picked two crucial wickets of Dwayne Bravo and Simmons, to give their team a fair advantage, to pounce upon West Indies.Wayne Parnell and Steyn combined well, to finish the match for their team, by cleaning up the West Indies batsmen and Parnell ended up with a impressive figures of four wickets to gift his team a twenty run victory. Parnell is certainly not a man, who thinks T 20 is a batsmen’s game for sure.
