Indians kick started their world cup campaign, with a clinical twenty five run victory over their sub – continent compatriots Bangladesh in Trent Brdige, in front of a packed crowd, which would have certainly pleased the organizers.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni had no hesitation, to put his team to bat, when he won the toss. Rohit Sharma, who came to open along with Gambhir, due to injured Virender shewag and provided a reasonable start, where they brought half – century partnership. Rohit Sharma was the aggressive among the two, but he got out to Shakib- ul- Hassan delivery, when he just started to look ominous for his thirty six runs.

Gautham Gambhir did not look at his fluent best, where he struggled, to pick the gaps nor his strike rate and Mahendra Singh Dhoni had a similar stint in the middle and it looked that India would well end short of a competitive score.

But it’s always criminal, to think less if we have Yuvraj Singh on the other end, as he clouted four huge sixes and three in one over of spinner Naeem Islam, which changed the complexion of entire game and it enabled India to contrive to a  score of one eighty runs.

Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and  Junnaid siddique made their intentions clear, from the ball one, where  they treated new ball bowlers’ Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan with disdain. It prompted Dhoni, to bring Yusuf Pathan to the bowl, well within power play and it proved to be a golden move, as it accounted to Tamim Iqbal wicket.

Junaid Siddique was at his aggressive best, where he was dealing with sixes and looked ominous with Ashraful, but once the Bangladesh captain departed unluckily hitting a powerful  cover drive straight to the fielder, it became easy for Indians, to dictate the terms from that point.

Prajan ojha got two price wickets of Siddique and Shakib – ul – Hassan in his opening over and formally announced that it is an up – hill task for Bangladesh batsmen, who failed to get away with spinners, in track which aided spinners.

Prajan ojha claimed four wickets for mere twenty one runs and saw that Bangladesh was kept under tight discipline and in the end they fell short by twenty five runs.

Indian spin strategy proved to be master stroke in the pitch which aided restrictive spin bowling , as Bangladesh  middle order batsmen succumbed to the pressure to score quickly and extradited to India.
