From TV to Newspaper they were strong favourites to ascend to throne of IPL.  But their chronicles painted an entirely different story and it was nothing short of a titanic debacle. They emerged as most underperforming team which was indicated by tournament report card.

Team came for a severe criticism from all the people ranging from media to their owners and no wonder captain VVs Laxman was the biggest casualty. Owners have literally lost their credibility in VVS laxman T 20 ability that they announced Adam Gilchrist as captain for next season.  Given the fact that Laxman decided to sacrifice his icon status, to accommodate more strong players, it hurt him badly that he had announced not associate with that team any more. Former Australian player Darren lehman was made as a coach for next season.

‘Gilchrist Mantra’ – 2009 season special:

One can be very sure that this season is going to be complete different script for Deccan chargers. Wounded bull is sure to clout the opponents with lot more vigour and Adam Gilchrist as a captain can be a huge influence on team. The lack of proper penetrative bowlers hurt them badly last season with only Chaminda  Vaas, RP Singh and Nuwan Zoysa as brigades of their bowling department. This season with induction of Fidel Edwards and all rounder Dwayne Smith things can quickly turn in their favour. Prajan Ojha can be another valuable asset to look forward for this season in bowling department.

Stars to watch out for:

It is not that every player performed badly last season. There were few rose petals in their thorn fields, like solid performance of players like Rohit Sharma, venugopal Rao, Ravi Teja . There is no doubt about their batting muscle power and the fact that they have players who can change the tide in their favour is going to be a huge advantage for them this season. Other international players like Ryan Harris and Chamara Silva cannot be discounted for their talent and potential, so if they can get their formula right it’s going to be one hell of nightmare for their opponents.

As earlier said cricket is a game of uncertainty; who knows, this season Deccan Chargers can be the potential dark horse which is going to create tantrums in minds of opponents. Certainly they have all ingredients to incite such a statement.
