Voracious captains eager for world cup fodder

Captains  have been always are the men under spotlight, when it come to international cricket world cups and this year world T 20 in England is not going, to be any different and already many captains have expressed their intentions and goals in their respective press  conferences, which  one can shuttle through.

Bangalesh captain Mohammad Ashraful has been quite pragmatic about his target, that he wants his team, to romp to super eight without any execuses and give their best shot. He added, that they had the better team and if they play well to their potential, they can rout Ireland without doubt. He was also optimistic, about his key bowler Moshrafe  Mortaza, who had a bad outing in solitary appearance of his IPL stint for Knight Riders.

For Srilnakan Captain , Kumar Sangakkara it’s a entirely a different pressure, as he would be marshalling his troops, for the first time in a major tournament like this and he expressed  that, if they can keep things simple and straight, without confusing themselves, they can travel a long distance in this world cup. He also was puzzled, to see Mahela jayawardene resigning from captaincy post, but said that his vice – captaincy experience would come in handy.

South African Graeme Smith, who had a dream run this season, after upstaging Australian, in their own territory and being crowned as a number one in ODI made his intentions clear, that they badly want an World cup title, which was evading them for a long time and said, that their players IPL experience would come, in handy, for them, in this world cup.

But for England captain Paul Collinggood, it’s going to be a different story as he would have loads of local pressure to fiddle with and also fact that he succeeded to clinch the captaincy crown routing players like Kevin Pietrsen and Dimitri Mascarnehas.  He said in press conference that their team would stage a brave battle and they would see they will carry the right momentum before the Ashes.

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that they would not be gratified with anything other than a world cup trophy this year and added that their IPL experience would come in handy for them to handle the pressure situation. He also said that there is no question of strong or weak opposistion in this format of the game, as one player can turn the game within few minutes.

No doubt the world cup carnival would be a fierce battle with full of glitz and glamour, which International cricket badly needs.
