Sri Lanka – a perfect amalgam of youth and experience

Sri Lanka is one of the International cricket teams, which can never be discounted, as they have the habit of consistently puzzling the opposition in big tournaments and occasions, by their array of potential in their reservoir. It’s not going to be any different story, in this T20 world cup, where they may not be one of the most fancied teams.

Sri Lanka – a perfect amalgam of youth and experience

Sri Lanka would have Kumar sangakkara, donning the captain’s suit for the first time, for an entire tournament and wicket keeper batsmen would be very much interested ,to flaunt his captaincy skills, to the world and this world cup would be a perfect platform, to stage it.

One  can include sanath jayasuriya  in your team in this format, even if he becomes fifty for his wealth of experience he brings along with him and even though he may be in his late thirties, his agility in the cricketing field can’t be questioned , so his explosiveness.

Spin department boast names like Muthiah Muralitharan and  Ajantha Mendis along with few others like Tilakratne Dilshan and Sanath Jayasuriya, who can be a serious threat, to any batsmen, if they even find iota of  assistance for spin bowling, whereas Muralitharan could be a threat even if there is not.

Sri Lanka Batting line – up epitomises a perfect blend of youth with experience just like their team, where they have Tilakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara ,Jayawardene, Chamara Silva, Sanath Jayasuriya, Jehan Mubarak.

They have un capped players in their squad  for this world cup namely De Saram, a thirty three year old middle order  batsmen, who has earned his selection through string of good domestic performance and Udana a  young fast bowler along with  Angelo Mathhews an aggressive all – rounder.

Fast bowling, which looked tame in recent times is back to his best, with Lasith  Malinga hitting his strides consistently along with Nuwan Kulasekra and Thilan Thusara, who has managed to keep Chaminda Vaas in oblivion speaks volumes about their depth and strength.

One of their pivotal strength has been that they have plenty of all- rounder’s, who can excel in batting and bowling with likes of Fervez Maharof, Angelo Matthews, Tilakaratne Dilshan and Sanath Jayasuriya, which can hugely favour them in getting a perfect balance, to rock their opposition in the back foot straight away.

Sri Lanka, which registered a thrilling victory against Bangladesh in their recent warm – up in England has shown sign of things, which are about to loom within few weeks of the tournament.
