Pakistan – all the making for potential dark horses
Not many experts fancied the chances of India and Pakistan meeting in the finals, in last world cup and given the capricious nature of T20, it wouldn’t be puzzling, if we find this team, which was kept out of much of international action due to political reasons lifting the coveted trophy in this year tournament.
Pakistan has always had some of the great talent pool in their squad, but always have failed, to make the best use of their treasures to fullest of potential , but this time they have a calm and composed captian in form of Younis Khan, who can be a perfect person to lend some stability to their lunatic talent.
They have two rookies this time for this world cup namely Shehraaz Ahmed an hard hitting opening batsmen and along with a eighteen year old teenage swing bowling sensation, by name Moahammed Aamer, who has been termed as a depository of talent, by none other than their former swing king Wasim Akram.
Pakistan batting line – up looks settled, with likes of Misbah –ul – Huq, Younis Khan, Kamran Akmal, Sohaib Malik in the middle order .They also have Salman Butt, who has been consistent in the top order for long time from now.
One of their key strength evident in their squad is their death bowlers namely Umar Gul, Fawad Alam, Sohail Tanvir, Ifithtiikar Anjum, who can combine to form a very lethal combination, to pose a challenge, to the opposition batsmen.
They also have star attraction in form of Sahid Afridi, who has been shining consistently with both bat and ball in recent series against Australia, can be a threat, for other opposition players and if he can knit a consistent performance; then it would be danger signs for other countries for sure.
Kamran Akmal, who was the man – of the match in recent T 20 match against Australia is without doubt be one of the devastating wicket keeping batsmen in the tournament, which any team would like to have.
Spin bowling stalwarts namely Saeed Ajmal, Sahid Afridi and Sohaib Malik can be a real threat to opposition countries in the middle over and one witnessed Saeed Ajmal been used in death overs along with Umar Gul in the recently conducted practise match against South Africa, speaks volumes about the bowling options they boast.
Pakistan no doubt could be one of the dark horses, vying for a trophy this season, as they might have already feeling thirsty and raring to go, after being kept out of action for a long time now due to political reasons.
