Delhi, Jaipur franchise owners feel the heat of venue change

So it means that Jaipur and Delhi would not get a chance to Host a single match. The most excruciating fact is that it is going to encroach into their revenue and also influence future deals which franchise is going to strike for this 2nd edition of IPL.

Franchises which are said to be busy in roping in additional sponsors to shore up revenue would be worst affected. GMR Sports CEO Amrit Mathur stated that theer will be loss in gate receipts and also in merchandise sales along with sponsorship deal.

Delhi Dare devils sponsors include Adidas, coca – Cola, hero Honda, Adidas, Kingfisher and Reliance ADAG sponsored social networking site called BigAdda.  Big Adda which is Delhi centric and would be worst afflicted if tournament is not going to ruffle in Delhi.

Team sponsorship deals which generally includes In- stadia presence, below – the – line rights and hoardings which are few things would be worst afflicted according to Delhi Dare Devils franchise.

Already franchise owners have expressed their displeasure to state government, where Delhi Dare Devil officials called on state Chief Minister Sheila Dixit to intervene on this matter. Even though IPL schedule and venues aren’t officially confirmed yet, it would be interesting to see whether speculated schedule would be official also.

Kingfisher associate sponsor of Rajasthan Royals told that when the brand partners with a certain city based franchise, it intends to leverage certain benefits and it would be very much ruffled if the venue is completely changed into another city.

Coca – Cola which is associate sponsor of Delhi Dare Devils also expressed similar sentiments stating that if Live IPL matches aren’t played in Delhi, it could alter their marketing and brand plans.

Another concern for IPL owners is that neutral venues like Nagpur and Dharmasala have very less seating capacity compared to the home grounds. Revenue sharing problems would be also in rampage, because of the neutral venue.

Franchise would enter into a meeting with IPL officials to rescue from this elusive situation and  so that they will also get a fair revenue on matches played parallel to other franchise, which is going to get more revenue as its going to host matches in its home grounds.
